Thank you to the Coon Rapids community for coming out to enjoy our 1st Annual Community Tree Lighting Festival yesterday at Boulevard Park on the Coon Rapids Ice Arena grounds! It was a huge success and we look forward to making this event even bigger and better for 2022!!
Thank you to the Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation for sponsoring the event and to the core group that worked tirelessly in a short amount of time to put it together - Scott Latta, Tiffany Trista, Susan Howe, Tim Howe, John Fick, John Piper, Jerry Koch, Pat Carlson, Stephanie Ring and Sue Hecht Erickson.
The list of those to thank is long and if I miss anyone please know it was not intentional, we are most appreciative of EVERYONE who played any part in the success of this event. Matt Stemwedel, Stephanie Ring, Public Works Department, Streets Department and CTN - we can’t do things like this without the expertise and dedication of the City of Coon Rapids employees. Coon Rapids Fire Department for providing us a location to build our amazing Rocky’s Santa Den, escorting Santa to the event and insuring the fire pits were blazing to keep everyone warm for the event! Coon Rapids Police Department and Police Reserve for manning the parking areas and keeping the peace! Bill Ganser and Coon Rapids Ice Center employees for your support and patience as we descended upon your facility to setup and execute the event! Tiffany Trista for taking on the task of getting a Santa shack built in 4 short days, Jake & Sarah Couch and their family for stepping up to construct the house in record time - it is absolutely amazing and we can’t thank you all enough! Coon Rapids Rotary Club, Coon Rapids 5K, Coon Rapids Fire Relief Fund, Coon Rapids North Star Lions & JD Roofing & Construction for your donations to support the construction of the Santa Den. Karen Carlson for your amazing and beautiful hand painting of the scenes inside and outside the Santa Den. Anoka Hennepin Schools National Honor Society students - Molly Neumann in 10th grade at Anoka HS, Jessica Jensen in 9th grade at Anoka High School, Natalie Medina in 11th grade at CRHS and CJ Dean in 11th grade at CRHS - for keeping the hot chocolate, cider and cookies moving out to everyone. Boy Scout Troop 406 for keeping guard over the Santa Den and insuring that young and old alike had their opportunity to visit Santa and his elves. Coon Rapids High School Choir - Raven Street Project - you were absolutely amazing, thank you so much for entertaining us for over an hour of great holiday music! Amy Lindsoe for capturing the photo memories of Santa’s visitors and Ben & Sam Lindsoe for insuring Rocky the Raccoon and Snowy the Snowman were there to entertain the crowd! Thank you so much to all who donated to the CRHS Food Shelf, there is always a need to support our student families and we appreciate you doing so. Miss Coon Rapids Leah Mau and Miss Coon Rapids Princess Hailey for stopping by to visit with community members. And we can't forget Santa, thanks for taking the time from your busy holiday schedule to spend time with our Coon Rapids families! Thank you again to all who had a part in making this event such a success!
